Signs your roof is leaking, and what to do first
Water stains on ceilings, bubbling paint and damp attic wood are common early signs of a roof leak. The stain is often not under the leak itself, because water travels along beams first.
Move belongings away, catch drips and photograph the damage. Then have a contractor trace the source instead of patching where the stain appears.
A proper repair covers the cause: flashing, seams, cracked membrane or blocked gutters. Ask for the fix in writing.
